Not every car responds the same way to paint correction. Modern aluminium panels, plastic bumpers, carbon fibre and traditional steel each demand a different technique. Here's what we do differently at Athene Accident Repair Centre depending on what you drive.

German Premium (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche)

These cars use:

• Tri-coat metallic and pearl paints that need spectrophotometer matching
• Aluminium body panels requiring dedicated tooling and a separate workshop area
• Heavy ADAS sensor packages requiring full calibration after almost any repair

Our technicians at Athene Accident Repair Centre are trained in OEM repair methods and we use VW Group, BMW Group and Mercedes-approved materials.

Japanese & Korean (Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Nissan, Kia, Hyundai)

These are typically the most cost-effective to repair. Solid paint codes match easily, panels are widely available and ADAS systems are well-documented. Most paint correction jobs complete in 24–48 hours.

Electric Vehicles (Tesla, Polestar, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, MG4)

EV repairs need:

• High-voltage isolation before any panel work near the battery pack
• Specialist body alignment — EVs are heavier and more sensitive to ride height
• Aluminium-specific welders and rivet bonders for structural work
• Recalibration of regenerative braking sensors and cameras

Damage Type Matters Too

The same dent on the same panel can need very different work depending on how it happened:

Curb Damage (Alloys, Sills)

Almost always repairable with proper preparation. Avoid budget "mobile only" outfits — they often skip the structural integrity check.

Car Park Dings

Perfect candidates for paintless dent removal (PDR) — no fillers, no respray, often same-day at a fraction of the cost.

Motorway Stone Chips

Best treated with SMART repair before they rust. Left alone, a 2mm chip becomes a 50mm rust spot in 18 months.

Vandalism & Key Scratches

Depth determines technique. Through-the-paint scratches need full panel work; through-the-clearcoat scratches often polish out completely. We assess free of charge.

Accident Damage

Always have any post-accident car structurally inspected — even minor knocks. Modern crumple zones can hide damage that compromises the next collision's safety.
