BS10125 approved bodyshops in the UK: what it means and who has it

BS10125 is the recognised UK quality standard for vehicle body repair. It replaced the older PAS 125. This page explains what BS10125 actually requires, which UK networks hold it across every site, and how procurement teams should verify a BS10125 claim before signing a panel agreement.

    What BS10125 actually requires

BS10125 is a process and competence standard. It requires a bodyshop to demonstrate (1) appropriate equipment for the repair classes it undertakes, (2) competent technicians with documented training records, (3) controlled processes for damage assessment, repair planning and quality control, and (4) traceability — every job has a documented file showing what was done, by whom, and to what standard.

BS10125 is not optional for bodyshops working on insurer panels. Most major UK insurers and AMCs require BS10125 as a minimum panel entry standard. The standard is independently audited annually by BSI or an equivalent certifying body.

    BS10125 vs PAS 125 — what changed

PAS 125 was the predecessor standard, withdrawn and replaced by BS10125 in 2014. BS10125 broadened the scope to cover SMART repair, glass replacement and ADAS-related operations more explicitly, and tightened the documentation expectations.

If a bodyshop website or marketing claims 'PAS 125' in 2026, that's a flag — the standard hasn't existed for over a decade. Procurement teams should ask for a current BS10125 certificate dated within the last 12 months.

How to verify a BS10125 claim

Three checks: (1) ask for a copy of the current certificate showing the certified site address, scope of certification, and expiry date; (2) cross-check on the BSI Verify portal using the certificate number; (3) for a network, verify that the certificate covers every site listed, not just the headline office.

Solution Repair Group publishes a current certificate for every one of its 23 sites and re-audits annually. Procurement teams can request the full network certificate pack from chris@solutionrepair.co.uk.

    Why network-wide BS10125 matters

A network with BS10125 on its headline site only — and variable certification across the rest of its member sites — exposes an insurer panel to inconsistent quality. The same panel agreement, deployed to two different network sites, can produce two different outcomes if only one of those sites is certified.

Solution Repair Group's 100% network coverage removes that risk. Every CAPS deployment lands on a BS10125-certified site, with the same documentation pattern and the same audit history. This is one of the operational reasons the network's complaint rate sits below 1%.
