See genuine before and after photographs of accident damage repaired in Epsom, with honest prices, timescales and advice from D&M Coachworks.
The question we are asked most often in Epsom is a simple one: will anybody be able to tell the car has been repaired? The honest answer is that they should not, and the photographs below let you judge that for yourself. Every repair on this page was booked in at D&M Coachworks, photographed on arrival and photographed again in the same spot once it was finished.
We repair everything from a supermarket car park scuff to a full insurance job with structural work behind it. Most cars that come to us from Epsom fall into four groups: bumper and wing impacts, long scratches down the doors, dents and creases in a panel, and kerbed alloy wheels. Drag the slider on each photograph to see the damage and the finished repair side by side. Same car, same colour, same corner of the workshop.

Volkswagen Golf, Atlantic Blue metallic
Junction shunt that split the bumper corner and creased the front wing. Panel repaired, primed and refinished in the original metallic, then blended into the door to keep the colour honest across the whole side.

Straightening metal is the straightforward part. What separates a proper bodyshop from a cheap one is the paint. Modern metallics and pearls shift colour depending on how the flake lies, so a panel sprayed to the manufacturer code alone will often sit slightly off against the doors either side of it. We mix in house, spray a test card first, then blend into the neighbouring panels so your eye never catches an edge. That is why the repaired car above looks like it left the factory rather than a workshop.
If a scratch has not gone through the paint, a smart repair is usually enough and can often be done in a day. Once it has cut through to primer or bare metal, or the panel is creased underneath, the honest answer is a full refinish. We will always tell you which one your car needs rather than selling you the dearer option by default, which matters when you are paying privately rather than claiming.

Ford Focus Estate, Moondust Silver
A scrape down the full length of both doors, cut through to primer. Flatted back, filled where the metal was creased, then resprayed and polished so the doors match the wings exactly.

Where the paint is unbroken we try paintless dent removal first, because keeping the original factory paint is better for the car and better for its value at resale. Where the metal has stretched or the paint has cracked, the panel is worked back to shape, given the minimum amount of filler, then refinished and blended.

Vauxhall Corsa, Power Red
Car park knock that dented the rear wing above the arch. Metal worked back to shape, minimal filler, then a two stage red refinish blended into the door and rear panel.

Tight parking, narrow lanes and speed cushions punish wheels across Sutton, Leatherhead, Banstead and Kingston upon Thames. Refurbishment is nearly always cheaper than replacement, and a diamond cut wheel can be machined back to its original finish rather than painted silver and hoped for the best.

Audi A4, 19 inch diamond cut wheel
Kerb damage right around the rim edge. Wheel stripped, machined back true, then lacquered to the factory diamond cut finish so it matches the other three.

As a guide, a single panel smart repair is the cheapest option and the quickest to turn around, a bumper repair and refinish typically takes two to three working days, and a multi panel job with blending takes most of a week. Insurance work depends on how quickly the engineer authorises the estimate, which is normally within 24 to 48 hours of us uploading the images. You get a written estimate before anything is booked in, and we do not start extra work without ringing you first.
You are entitled to choose your own repairer, whatever your insurer suggests on the phone. D&M Coachworks works with all the major insurers and brokers, handles the claim paperwork for you, contributes up to £500 towards your excess and keeps you moving with a free courtesy car while the work is being done.
No. A correctly blended repair should be invisible in daylight, which is exactly what the sliders on this page are there to prove. If you can pick it out, we have not finished.
You do not. You have the right to choose your own accident repair centre and we will deal directly with the insurer on your behalf.
A properly documented repair carried out to BS 10125 standards, with the correct materials and paint, protects your car value far better than leaving damage untreated or having it patched badly on a driveway.
We regularly look after drivers from Sutton, Leatherhead, Banstead and Kingston upon Thames, and we can usually collect and deliver locally if you cannot get the car to us.
Three or four clear photographs from your phone, one close up and one standing back, plus your registration. That is normally enough for a realistic estimate the same day.
Bring the car in, or send the photographs across, and we will tell you straight away whether it is a quick smart repair or a full panel job. Call D&M Coachworks on 020 8393 0550, or use the online estimate form and we will come back to you with a price and a date.
